caring for the fabric...

All pieces have been washed, and I use no preservatives or fabric softeners in the wash. Still, it is usually advisable to wash a new piece of fabric before cutting it to your pattern, or before wearing it as a scarf or finished item. If washed on a gentle cycle, in cool to warm water, the color will remain vivid.

caring for a wearable...

If special care instructions apply to a specific wearable piece, I will make sure to include them with your purchase.
Bleach should not be needed on any of this fabric, unless you are using it as a design tool.
Direct sunlight will deteriorate both the color and the fibers.
Also, please note that rayon becomes weaker when wet, and is easily torn, especially at seams, so remove wet rayon pieces from the wash carefully.

my fabric surface designs...

Each piece of fabric that you see here has been hand dyed, waxed, and dyed again by me personally. I usually work on each piece of fabric — fat quarters and larger — individually, one at a time. Usually, even the first "under-dye" is something I apply to each piece individually, I rarely do immersion dye baths. This way, I can make sure that each piece is completely unique. If you are looking for a specific quantity of fabric within the same color range, let me know. I can dye all the fabric to fill your order at one time to create greater uniformity of color.

materials I use...

I work with the highest quality 100% cotton, rayon, and silk fabrics. I use Procion Fiber Reactive dyes, mixed in recipes that I have developed, specifically suited to the way I work. I utilize bees wax, paraffin, and soy wax in different combinations to achieve different results. I have experimented with different types of resists other than wax, but so far wax is my favorite resist.

will post more care info as I think of it, or if I stumble onto something new...
